From December 15 to January 21, Seoul City will host <Seoul Winta (Seoul Winter Fiesta) 2023>, spanning 38 days and connecting 7 representative charm points in Seoul.
The theme of this festival is 'Unseen Light, Coloring Seoul,' featuring 10 festivals and events utilizing light and lighting technology such as media facades and projection mapping. The locations include DDP, Bosingak, Sejong-daero, Gwanghwamun Square, Yeouido Song Hyun Green Square, Cheonggyecheon, and Seoul Plaza, all within the downtown area.

광화문 Gwanghwamun & DDP
The 'Seoul Light,' established as a representative media art exhibition in Seoul, will take place at Gwanghwamun and DDP. A massive 800m-long media facade, established for the first time in 100 years from Gwanghwamun Sun Square to Gwanghwamun Plaza, will provide a visually and historically fresh experience.
Starting from December 21, at DDP, you can also witness 'Digital Atlantis,' an ultra-realistic and fantastic expression of the harmony between nature and technology, using the outer wall of DDP as a canvas for 'Seoul Light DDP Winter.'

Open Songhyeon Green SquareAt the recently returned-to-the-citizens Open Songhyeon Green Square, the 'Songhyeon-dong Solbeat Festival' will take place. In this previously unknown space veiled by pine tree forests, the 'light of nature' will be projected, expressing the supernatural wonder with light and shadows that become even more vivid in the darkness.

The prominent urban light festival, the 'Seoul Lantern Festival,' celebrating its 15th year, will take place for 38 days in the areas of Gwanghwamun Square, Cheonggyecheon, and Seoul Plaza. Centered around a large sculpture themed 'White Night in Seoul,' it offers a spectacular display. Particularly noteworthy are the 360-degree three-dimensional 'Moon of Time' and the dragon sculpture prepared for the 'Year of the Dragon' in 2024.
Meanwhile, the 'Christmas Market,' beloved as a winter destination every year, will be held at Gwanghwamun Square (2023.12.15-2024.1.21) and DDP (12.21-12.31). The 'Seoul Plaza Skating Rink' will be open for 52 days from December 22 to February 11 next year.
제야의 종 New Year's Eve Ball
On the night of the 31st, the countdown and the striking of the 'Jeya's Bell' will take place along the route from Bosingak to Sejong-daero, marking the highlight of <Seoul Winta 2023>. Starting at 23:00 on December 31, the event will be broadcast live not only from Bosingak to Sejong-daero but also from DDP and Gwanghwamun Square, allowing everyone in the city to share the moment of welcoming the new year.
For the first time in four years since the COVID-19 pandemic, this year's 'Jeya's Bell' striking event will involve citizen participation. Eighteen individuals, including citizen representatives selected through public recommendations (until December 8) and global influencers, will collectively strike the bell 33 times to herald the new year. Simultaneously, in the middle of Sejong-daero, a spectacular 12-meter 'Midnight Sun' will rise, symbolizing the dawn of 2024.

In addition to the above, to make <Seoul Winta 2023> as a 'winter festival enjoyed by people worldwide,' an event called '2023 SeoulCon' will be held in the DDP area from December 30 to January 1, in conjunction with global influencers, spreading the true essence of the festival to the world.
'SeoulCon' is an event where global influencers in daily life, beauty, fashion, and more gather to host activities such as a street fashion market and fan meetings. This year, over 3,000 teams of influencers from more than 50 countries will come to Seoul. On December 31, they will join Seoul's countdown event, engaging with their subscribers, totaling 3 billion people.
